Could the blog possibly be the new pet rock of the 21st century? It appears that everyone has to have one! Everyday we are exposed to blogs, some serious and others completely ridiculous. One thing everyone can agree on is blogs are everywhere. It doesn’t matter where you are these days, you are bound to hear about or read somebody’s blog.
Bloggers come in all shapes and sizes, rich and poor, from every known profession and background, from every political party and opinion. You can find blog content in every possible category of interest.
There are people who own a blog, we all know who they are. How many times a day do you hear “check it out on my blog” or “be sure to check out this blog.” Then there are people who can’t wait to to read somebody’s blog everyday. Finally, there are people that spend all of their time commenting on blogs.
You can find a blog to participate in no matter what your interests are, personal, celebrity, media, political, religion, family, hobby, business and endless other blog content. If you are not satisfied with the blogs of others you can start your own.
Blogs have become very inexpensive and with the help of modern technology they are loaded with features that make them easy and fun to personalize and manage. Many people are making money from their blogs with advertising or selling products.
While blogging can be fun, educational or even a social outlet, the blogger must be responsible. You must remember that everything you post on a blog, whether it is a thought, opinion, personal or job related information the post is exposed to the world and remains there. No one knows who reads or copies this same information or for what reason they do.
An example of being irresponsible would be a single woman, living alone with a blog, she has her name, address and telephone number posted and she comments on her blog about the expensive jewelry collection she recently inherited from her grandmother. Use common sense! Private domain name registration conceals your name, address, telephone number and email from prying eyes and data miners.
Be cautious because you do not know who is gathering your information or the purpose they are gathering it for. Do not divulge more information than you would in a casual conversation with a stranger. Information, criticism and photos that you post on a blog could later cause you harm or your job.
You can still have fun and be cautious and responsible. Think of blogs as entertainment, not a form of therapy.
